Enriched Wheat Flour: We strip the natural vitamins and minerals out so your body doesn't have to. Once the bran and germ are removed your body will absord it in an unnatural manner. This gives bread a finer texture and increases shelf life. Bugs won't even eat it. In fact, they will die if the attempt to live off it. When the bran and the germ (the parts of the wheat that contain vitamins and minerals) are removed, your body will absorb the wheat differently. Instead of being a slow, steady, natural process through which you get steady bursts of energy, your body will break down the enriched flour rapidly, flooding your blood stream with lots of sugar at once. Your body will then work hard to absorb the excess and stores it as fat. This causes quick highs and lows in your blood-sugar level which can lead to type-two diabetes and obesity. Bring it on!

White Refined Sugar: White Refined Sugar has no food value and contains no nutritional value. White sugar is considered an empty carbohydrate, no value! When making sugar from both cane and beets, they are heated and calcium hydroxide (lime), which is a toxin to the body, is added. Then, Carbon dioxide, which is another toxin, is used to remove the lime. When heated to remove impurities the sugar turns from a sticky black substance to a clear juice. We then take the sugar and bleach it white with a chemical solution that uses pork by-products (blood albumin and/or animal charcoal). It is processed like this at least 3 times before it's ready for "normal" use at which time it no longer resembles a food but rather a drug and an artificial substance. Sugar destroys food digestion enzymes in the mouth, stomach, the small intestines and the pancreas. It also reduces the amount of hydrochloric acid (a necessary digestive acid) in the stomach. This can result in constipation. This is why we like to hide it in many foods such as cereals, ketchup, chips, canned foods, frozen foods, etc. Near 70 percent of the sugar that you consume is hidden in foods. This translates to the average American eating 150 pounds of sugar per year. Ouch.

Corn Syrup: Made from corn starch, high-fructose corn syrup is a thick liquid that contains two basic sugar building blocks, fructose and glucose, in roughly equal amounts. High fructose corn syrup contains what are called ‘free’ or unbound fructose molecules. These molecules have been found to interfere with normal heart functioning, among other things. A USDA study suggested that fructose may mess up the magnesium balance in the body, spurring bone loss. Dr. Robert C. Adkins, father of the Adkins diet, has warned on his website of the dangers of HFCS. Pointing to the University of Minnesota study, he explained:

"Triglyceride goes into the bloodstream and makes our cells resistant to insulin. And insulin resistance…is the fast road to fatigue, malaise, diabetes and, of course, obesity…."

Hydrogenated & Partially Hydrogenated Oils: Partially hydrogenated oils will not only kill you in the long term but it will also make you fat. Eating trans fat increases the risk of coronary heart disease. European countries have either banned hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils altogether or have instituted future dates for elimination of their use in foods. The Trans Fatty Acids (hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils) are directly related to studies that link consumption from processed foods that contain trans fatty acids to the development of diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease.

MSG: Monosodium Glutamate is a chemical that has been associated with reproductive disorders, migraine headaches, permanent damage to the endocrine system leading to obesity and other serious disorders.

Cellulose Gum: Cellulose Gum is an indigestible fiber used as a bulking agent. FDA lists CMC as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) when used in accordance with good manufacturing practices.

Silicon Dioxide: The chemical compound silicon dioxide, also known as silica, is the oxide of silicon, chemical formula SiO2. Silica is found in nature in several forms, including quartz and opal. Silica is a major ingredient of Portland cement, this gives a new meaning to the term "rock gut". Silica is also used as a food additive, primarily as a flow agent in powdered foods, or to absorb water (see the ingredients list for Burger King) Inhaling crystalline silica dust can lead to silicosis or cancer.

I think we need to have a label for "CLONED MEAT" on the market. Pretty soon (or maybe even now?) they're going to start putting the meat of cloned animals on the market here in the United States.

Great...

It´s curious that all-bran food products are now more expensive than transformed one´s!? I guess we are doomed to pay for processes that were not needed in the first place, like adding fiber and/or vitamins to processed products :/

Another reason to eat whole, organic foods when possible.

As you know, the list of chemicals in processed products is a mile long and it would take us a year to decipher all of them.
